About the Author

Cammie

Cammie Quinn grew up in the '60s and '70s passing her handwritten stories around the classroom to her classmates. She was inspired to become a writer by her mother, Florence Corlas, a writer who raised Cammie and her five younger siblings to appreciate the blessings of home and family. Some of Florence's writings appear in this collection.

Cammie's writing interests range from newspaper feature articles to inspirational stories to Civil War novels. She grew up in "The Land of Lincoln" in small-town Auburn, Illinois, often playing in the farm fields of her grandparents. She pursued her writing dreams at Lincoln Land Community College (A.A. 1977) and Illinois State University (B.S. 1979, M.S. 1990). Since graduating, she has raised two children and worked at a bank, a university, and an inner-city food pantry.

She is the author of newspaper articles written for The State Journal-Register (Springfield, IL) and The Lexingtonian. Her feature article about ice skating as a child won first place in the feature writing division of the 2017 Illinois Press Association Newspaper Contest. She is the author of a nonfiction book, Lincoln's Springfield in the Civil War (1991). She has also ghost-written and edited multiple books. Her Civil War novel, Follow the Wind Home, was released in the summer of 2023.

Cammie lives in Central Illinois with her husband, Kevin. They have two grown children and three cats. Kevin, a software engineer, created this website for Cammie. Without his countless hours of detailed work, this website would not exist. All photos and banners are from personal family albums.

In 2003, Cammie lost her right eye to cancer. Since then, her prayer has been that God would allow her to see Him better with one eye than with two.
